Kanso Irregular Ring

Kanso Irregular Ring

This 14K gold-filled ring is hand-hammered and set in a sculpted setting, from which two rounded arms of 23K gold balance a raw piece of grey ceramic. The exposed edges ebb and flow. Each Kanso Irregular Ring will feature a unique piece of reclaimed Japanese ceramic, strewn with coppery-brown glaze, complementing the cool greys and stepping in rhythm with the gold.

Kanso - Simplicity and elimination of clutter. Things are expressed in a plain, natural manner. We are reminded to think not in terms of decoration, but in terms of clarity, a kind of clarity that may be achieved through exclusion of the non-essential.

Kanso Irregular Ring is worn on the middle finger in the photos. Approximate measurement of the gemstone & setting (not including ring band): 0.625 x 0.375 x 0.325 inches

Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is the Japanese art of Kintsukuroi, which repairs broken pottery with seams of gold. This process emphasizes the seams where the ceramic was once broken, and creates a new type of beauty. The ceramic pieces used in our collection are traced with ebbing gold, suspending the pieces in warm hues on the body.. Our lives are can be broken, but we persevere something from these broken moments, and mend our lives to be stronger, filled with beautiful golden light.
