Shibumi Arch Earrings

Shibumi Arch Earrings

With shimmering gold and bright green,  the Shibumi Arch Earrings are elegant in their simplicity. Long, clean lines of hand-hammered gold arch out from both sides of the ear to culminate in a tilted square of vintage kimono fabric. The swatches of gold thread flourishes are accented by blank lines, dancing through the green stripes, giving vibrant new language to an otherwise familiar form.

Shibumi - (渋味)  Beautiful by being understated, or by being precisely what it was meant to be. Direct and simple, without being flashy. Elegant simplicity, articulate brevity.

Kimono (着物, きもの) are traditional Japanese garments. They represent important moments in life,  and were used throughout Japanese history and on formal occasions in modern Japan. Kimonos are often sewn by hand; even machine-made kimonos require substantial hand-stitching. The silk kimono pieces used in our Make Wilde x HANAMI collection are stitched with gold, deep black, white, bright green, and burnt red; these colors empower us, and the traditional patterns are a link to history. With modern finishes, the Kimono comes to life in bold rectilinear shapes, paired with slender gold stems and deep black velvets.
